In a deal that has been looked to be kept under wraps for at least a month – has officially went public today. Toronto based rapper Drake has signed on his first recording contract with distribution from a major record label, Universal Republic. He will be working alongside Lil’ Wayne at Young Money Records, the man who gave him the biggest co-sign in the first place. He has already started the recording process for his upcoming debut disc, Thank Me Later.
You should all know by now this deal was set in place a while ago because he already has a recording budget set in place. He was working with the Neptunes just a few weeks ago, and trust me they do not come cheap! Congratulations, the city of Toronto has never seen anything like this in the urban music business ever.
